Not sure if this is the right place to post this but since the above used to be part of SLF, I wondered if anyone knows what has happened to the site?

Akiba-Online was never a part of SLF. The only thing they have that used to be ours is Junior Idols. chompy isn't online at the moment so I would expect that the site won't be back up until he gets back on the computer. All you can do is wait.

Weird.. I was just starting to get pretty worried about akiba-online as well. 3 Web browsers, googling for 3 days, and searching around hongfire, this site, and a couple others as well as disabling everything AV related with no firewall brought nothing. We even have 2 ISPs (long story) and still nothing.

New torrents are going up and everything with no complaints, and I think I even saw some other google link leading to a post inside the forum that was new... So it must be something with us sigh...

Edit: nm it appears on yet another site some akiba regulars have posted that it's down as well, sorry for bumping but some might wish to know. Weirdest downtime I've seen, haven't been able to find a word about it until today, everybody's been normal about it as well -_-...

Yes, I have perhaps mistakenly implied that akiba was 'part' of SLF when it's only the JrIdol section. Nevertheless, I had hoped to find out what's going on with it since I suspect some of goes there would still visit here as well.

Yes. I know where does he go but I won't tell the location since it's personal private. All I can tell you guys is that no one know what happened to akiba-online except the webmaster. chompy himself. Most likely, it's a server problem. We will have to wait for chompy to come back to fix the problem as soon as possible. It may take some times coz there's a high chance that Chompy won't be able to online at this moment.

So guys, be patient, and wait for chompy's return/online again.

Update.

The akiba-online should be back online in about a week. I can't guarantee that, but that is what I heard from chompy just now. So keep your fingers crossing on this.

I guess all admin must find someone they trust in case anything come up like going to vacation or etc. this way if the main admin is busy the second admin can administrade by using the same password and if the main admin want to use it pm the second admin to log out and to let the main admin log in to have access to the forum.:-)

It got nothing to do with the admin. The forum was taken down by the data centre. The responsibility is on their side. The admin couldn't do anything on it except informing them & waiting for them to fix it.

I'm pretty sure I remember Chompy saying he was going away for a week or 2, i can't remember how long exactly. Maybe that's one of the reasons it's taking a while to come back.

Things change. Better to accept it and move on. Will akiba-online come back? Probably.. But you seriously have to be patient about it. When it comes to owning a forum, if there are billing issues, isp issues, whatever issues, the forum can be out for months. So I suggest to sit back, accept the current circumstances and find an alternate solution if you cannot get your fill of akiba. Remember, it's a forum - don't treat it like a drug.

Here's some things that would clear up the minds of the akiba-fans who been waiting for answer in this thread:

1. Chompy is currently on vacation. He won't be back to his own place until next month. So if he only can fix the forum after he comes back, then that means you have to wait until next month.

2. The forum didn't close. It was taken down due to finance issues, which chompy is currently dealing with paypal. Chompy has backed up everything on the forum before he left for vacation. So even if the forum is closed permanently, Chompy can create a new forum whenever possible to replace it, by refilling all the previous data. So don't worry about it.

3. Chompy didn't get caught, never ever. And it got nothing to do with any kind of porn issue. Please don't simply make the assumption and don't ever try to spread those ridiculous rumors on something that you never know about.

4. If you want to know the exact answer when akiba will be back, here's a simple solution. Just go to the website whenever you are free. When you can access, then it's back. If you can't, then it's still down. As simple as that.


And lastly, I believe this thread has reached to its purpose. LOCKED.

PS: When the akiba-online is back, I will reopen this thread and inform you guys.

Keep those comments to yourself, mind you, there is absolutely no "child porn" in akiba online or what so ever, it's just modeling, and there is nothing wrong about it, and again, please keep those cruel comments to yourself, we don't need to know.

It's not so much that we thought it was child porn (most, if not all the staff, agreed that it wasn't). It was that it was on a porn site, which effectively renders the under-age photos as sexually stimulating material by definition. Suddenly, regardless of the content or original intent, it is illegal. We've been busted once for having copyrighted images, so we took that extra measure to lower our chances of being busted again.

There were also frequent complaints of people being uneasy with the section being visible, and then even that it was there in the first place, since some of the photos and models are portrayed in sexual poses, regardless of clothing. They didn't want to see the site shut down for questionable material.

And as many Americans should know, the US is cracking down on every possible instance of possible pedophilia in any possible form. OldiesLover can cite a few broadcasts and articles if you so wish.

The A-O forum almost gone forever yesterday. Fortunately, Chompy was able to find the solution to restore it. However, the database error will still be happening occasionally.

According to chompy, the OS restoration is completed and the forum should be fine now. Try again guys.
