it's ridiculous to force someone to change their name because you don't like who that person is

lols. that's some BS ruling. what if there is another much older woman with the name Katsumi and she doesn't want to be mistaken with the French actress (because maybe she doesn't approve of her acting or something)? and since it is her real name and she's older therefore she had it first, then does it mean the French actress have to give up her name as well? what a retarded judge. you can't own a person's name, there are numerous of people named after napolean or queen elizabeth doing god knows what...their descendants aren't up in arms about misuse of their ancestors' name now are they? if anything this might be the French actress attempt to get some spotlight on her own career.

in response to a comment above, you have to bear in mind that "katsumi" was not the XXX actress's real name -it was a chosen moniker, so, surely, a person's real name bears more weight.
As i said, imagine how the real "madame Katsumi" must have felt all these years when being offered all sorts of, er, physical parts!

Anyway:
2 things a, Katsuni won't be the first prOn star to go by different aliases

and, b , this happens all the time in rock: Blink added 182 to their name after a band from Dublin who had named Blink themselves before them pointed out their existence; Verve became The Verve; Suede is known in the US as "the London Suede" or smthg; The Sisters Of Mercy's 2 spin-off groups both chose the name The Sisterhood! (true), one of them eventually settling for The Mission; and so on.

Yep, "Catsumi" could have been an alternative.

so the rule from above only applies to monikers and not real person's name? so like i said, if someone with similar name as the French actress did not like how she's portraying/representing the name (ex. bad acting in bad movies, run ins with the laws, etc.), that person can't ask her to change her name since it's the actress' real name? if so, katsumi can just officially change her name to katsumi if she really want to keep it then. but i don't think her fans followed her 'cause of her name...
