I've been trying my hand at faking recently (mix of Eastern and Western celebs), but recently I found the wiki on faking in Japan, which apparently is called アイコラ (short for idol collage). Anyway, says here that faking is illegal in Japan as it is considered a copyright infringement. Here's the link:

Great thread. I've been trying my hand at faking recently (mix of Eastern and Western celebs), but recently I found the wiki on faking in Japan, which apparently is called アイコラ (short for idol collage). Anyway, says here that faking is illegal in Japan as it is considered a copyright infringement. Here's the link:

Anyone know anymore about this? Should fakers be worried?

from wat i heard, japanese celebs hav copyright on their face. even if its a papparazi pic, if u can recognise the celeb they have to pay the celeb for use of their pic. but i m not sure on the details

If you're not in Japan, then you're just being paranoid. They have better things to do then go after someone playing with photoshop in another country.

People in Japan have gotten in trouble for making fakes though, so it would appear to be illegal to do so and then try to pass them around to the general public (in the same way that selling an uncensored dvd would be illegal)

I Second that. Plus they would have to link your username to your IP to your real identity - imagine the legal battle between your ISP and some random Japanese model, there's no way that would happen. Us gaijin are UNTOUCHABLE on here :-)

If the picture links you to another site and not the image, try a few more times. Very rarely (like 1 in 100 chance), it does that but if you try again, the picture should work. The site is better for American celebs, so you can take a look at those too if you're interested!
