Hi

I always give Thanks to the post I like,

1 thing i wanted to know is How do I track back the post I thanked, i know there is a function to track the post people thanked me but there seems to be no way to track the posts I thanked

regards._.._.

Not sure if there is a way to do that. It would be a limitation of vBulletin and there is nothing we can do directly.

Highly unlikely. Otherwise, knowing Dyka, he would have clicked Remove Your Thanks. :evillaugh:

I may be thankful, but I ain't easy.
O.K. I am easy but not cheap.
Well not that cheap.
O.K. O.K. I am cheap, what do you want from me?

Thanking posts I like is actually useful in a small way to myself, and since I have accepted myself as cheap and easy what do I have to lose? While on the subject it would be kinda fun to see:
-Who is the most thanked ( besides Oldies lover who we all idolize, the big macho lug).
-What thread and posts are the most thanked.
-Who has the best post to thanked ratio
-Who has the best thanks to thanked ratio.

Then we can have a party with prizes, cake and everything. I hope it don't turn out to be a wienie fest.:bingo:

BTW: I bet a capable database person could do it damn quick. Email me the names posts and thanks and I can do it.

"Who is the most thanked (besides Oldies lover who we all idolize, the big macho lug)?"

As fylth says, probably blackfox.

"What thread and posts are the most thanked?"

The Minori Hatsune thread in Softcore Sanctuary (http://forum.scanlover.com/showthread.php?t=13657) is certainly up there. ExtremelyHappy got 37 thanks on his first post alone.

"Who has the best thanked to post ratio?"

Probably, ehreek with 4.8 thanks per post. Other contenders were Darth Demon with 4.4 and drilla19 at 3.5.

"Who has the best thanks to thanked ratio?"

Probably mrmullusca again with 6.6 thanks per thanked post.

Minori Hatsune's thread's like a small but dense rock crashing on the SLF pond. Although there are longer and older threads, its impact is STILL being felt now. something bout that girl just triggers people crazy.

whoo, the thanks feature is a very science! for one name i drop, i forget 20 & more other people, sorry, didn't meant to ; )

this is a little off-topic, but besides thanking posts, i think the feature is also great in terms of interaction. imo.
instead of replying every post, some can just "holla" at someone, without raising the postcount. which makes the forum very polite & clean. great feature!

It is a great feature. I can look through my old posts, and see what people enjoyed, and then maybe post more like that. Sometimes I even PM people who thanked me to see if they have the same interests as me. You can also use it to see what models or actresses are hot right now. Excellent addition!

Probably mrmullusca again with 6.6 thanks per thanked post.

Found this new kid on the block, xnd (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=140852) which smashes this record by miles.

Thanks: 65
Thanked 5 Times in 5 Posts
Ratio: 13

I'm doubtful that this is a fair comparison though... I mean it's easy when you've to click on say... 10 to 15 thanks per day. But to do so everyday over the years?

if we're gonna honor our best posters (ranked by thanks per post or thanks per thanked post), we should probably break it down by category:

- pictures
- torrents
- videos
- weblinks
- zip files
- advice / general knowledge
- jokes

then it would be easy to know who our expert Asian researchers are :hero:

we also might wanna recognize some dubious honors like:

- highest post per thanks ratio
- highest post per thanked ratio

there's probably some other ones like this...

additional interesting metrics might be:

- posts with widest time span between thanks (would need to attain a certain minimum thanks count to prevent manipulation)
- shortest text post with most thanks
- ratio of member's thanked posts with either pictures, torrents, video download links, or only text
- member with greatest number of unique members thanking him or her

rainy (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=53172), you do have an excellent ratio, thanked 5.1 times per post. You are our new king.

10. ryuuga (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=2076) at 3.352

Interestingly, rainy, konokilo, ehreek and Arragon all seem to be denizens of Scanlover Theater. I guess everyone appreciates the time involved in uploading full videos to Rapidshare. Darth Demon and ExtremelyHappy tend to be found in Softcore Sanctuary. drilla19 is a slogger. la hangs around in Beauty Boutique. fylth has recently switched from eMule to EE Video Torrents, and ryuuga posts a lot to BB Video Torrents (although there are rumours that he can't download torrents himself - talk about selflessness).

So, it looks like we have a new king and that's turtledude001. At the moment, it's quite easy to be the next king. First, make sure you have zero Thanks. Then make one post that can garner at least six Thanks and you're the new king! :evillaugh:

I have wondered before, though I am just being cynical, that maybe this site is just some sort of porno marketing research project. For example:

Threads with the most individual thanks (so I count as 1 thank for thanking the whole thread).
Probably count the hits/views
count the thumbnails actually opened.
What threads generate the most immediate interest?
What threads get the most repeat traffic.

BTW I was tabulating the votes to see who was notworthy. I gave up though because of the fear of not recognizing people. Lets not beat around the bush though, blackfox is king and we are all playing cathup.

mrmullusca

Also BTW, I doubt we could implement it, because I havn't seen it on vBulletin so far, but some forum's do have little doo dads they append under your Avatar to indicate how loved you are. Check out the PHPwind site screencapture below. They get blinking medals and some kind of status bar! On lots of sites People get all sorts of little medals and stuff to make them feel loved.

It is kind of like WoW, except you get experience by posting and being thanked instead of raiding and finishing quests.

Blackfox would be lvl 70 with a tricked out griffon, I would still be riding my rusty ostrich (I was a gnome mage).

Now I know it is weird and many may have looked purely out of curiosity (much like myself). I also think I know why people don't want to add their thanks to these posts.

I agree with your point on this one Chengku. I also have some post like that. A very high number of hits, but only 1 thanks.

Maybe we should try and encourage all members to use the thanks button more. Quite a few in here that do a lot of leeching, but have not got the courtsey to say thanks to the contributers. After all, the posting of pics or even posting in the discussion forums take a lot of time and dedication.

How about indy?

I agree with you blackfox. indy although he is not a big poster, but what he does post is very high quality and does seem to attract a lot of thanks. (Why does this contridict what Chengku and I say?)

That's one possibility. But let's give them the benefit of doubt. They're probably unaware of this little feature, which is rather unlikely of course. One option is that after they registered, new comers are automatically led to a page with explanation on the various points/issues they are to be aware of. On this page, this little feature can be included. :bingo:

I don't think there's any contradiction. You must understand that it's highly unlikely that each post is seen by everyone. It's all up to the individuals who have seen the post to decide whether to thank the poster. He/she may have clicked the pics to have a closer look, that doesn't mean that he/she likes the pics. So to me it's all random.

Writing up a FAQ is a great idea, but the question is who would be the best man for the job. It would need to be someone who knows all the ins and outs of the feature, someone who cares deeply enough to stop by and share his expertise whenever questions arise. So who was the first one to answer the opening question in this thread?
:nice:

Chengku
01-21-2008, 10:13 PM
... Quite a few in here that do a lot of leeching, ...

I guess my point was not to worry about people who do not contribute. I used blackfox's member list function to have a look and see who had been here the longest. A lot of those people have contributed nothing over three years but still come here. I guess the pics are as much for them as the contributors. If the pics were only for contributors you would have few people looking at them.

There are some non contributors who thank and so I try to acknowledge them when I next post (I acknowledge the contributors too). Check my posts to see how.

Anyway, my point was just that people were saying "look at these guys who get tonnes of thanks" and I was saying "Look at these posts that get tonnes of hits and no thanks".

I think the thanks function is not the only test of contribution. I have seen people up a whole set and get only one thanks. Then I have seen people up an unremarkable picture and be bombarded with praising clicks.

I have noticed that if a name is in yellow then people tend to thank them. I have also noticed many with names in yellow thanks a lot (mike2323, drilla...)

Keep on contributing

fuurinkazan

Obviously there are lots of random factors that affect what people thank. The first Minori Hatsune post were these resized and cropped versions of larger Graphis originals, but because no one had seen them before, they got a big reaction. Likewise, there are probably hundreds of beautiful brilliant posts here which many of us have never seen or are ever likely to. I do like being thanked though, and I do feel it means something. It makes me feel like posting again, and that is the feature's beauty.

"I have noticed that if a name is in yellow then people tend to thank them."

The names in yellow are all moderators. Actually, ehreek is the only moderator who made it into the top 10 thanked contributors.

Some interesting results on thanking recently:

1) I got a rapidshare collectors account. Now I can see how many people DL my files. There are heaps (over 100) of downloads compared to the thanks both at this forum and another one (:whisper:It is even worse at the other forum I use)

2) I recently upped a link for a Sayaka Isoyama video I found. Good old mike upped some screencaps for me as he usually does. Someone thanked him but not me. All up only 3 thankers (not includung mike2323 and me).

3) Recent Yoko Matsugane pic posts with average 30 views (9 thanks) average 110 views (3 thanks).

I love the thanks button but I would hate to be an anthropologist or sociologist trying to work out how or why people respond as they do.

I tried to find a similar thread to this where some of these issues were discussed , but I failed to find it. Thanking people actually helps me, because I encourage people to do what I like. Sometimes I would question myself: "Should I really thank a whole thread?", "I only like 1 of these 5 pics, should I still thank?", "I never saw this post, and so never gave my thanks, will Dyka be sad now?" "Some people only thank the creme de creme, should I be like that?"

Don't get so hug up over it! :bingo: Just give thanks freely and you may be rewarded with more of the like.

My post with Hitomi Tanaka (her debut video) has got more but I wouldn't surprise if this isn't a record: http://forum.scanlover.com/showpost.php?p=370251&postcount=354

Well this post, hidden away in Amateur Alley, easily smashes both of those posts with an incredible 136 "thanks" to date. I think this is the record holder, though i might always be wrong.

Does anyone know who has thanked the most? I reckon hairen (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=9233) may be up there with 8102.

edit: mrmullusca (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=58153) has thanked 11,899 times

No, I meant those who thank. I thought about it because hairen thanks people but does not up much.

And going by your sytem, blackfox has been thanked 23,495 times (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=52895), well ahead of drilla at 14414 (http://forum.scanlover.com/member.php?u=1922)

Yes it is a rare and great skill clicking on the 'thanks' button; must take years of practice.

That's the trouble with damned rules, there's always an umpire or referee hanging around with a whistle; not to mention some dude with a scorecard, but who's counting?

Opps... Sorry about that! Yeah, I glanced at ta wrong number. Ok, that's my ONE MISTAKE fur 2008!

Plus, if this helps... We know that Post Counts are important because it constantly & consistently comes up during various evaluations and decision making processes within the Forum.

Is an all to end all? No, of course not. It's simply one measurement, for what it's worth.

As far as the Thanks Button, is was implemented to reduce Thanks Posts, which required continual cleaning and was frustrating for Members thinking New Posts meant New Material.

Again, it is simply one measurement, for what it's worth.

Frankly, personally, I feel Referrals are probably our best measurement device. But I guess that's just my business orientation coming out.

Besides, the Leader with the Most Referrals is scanlover.

But I'll catch up with him one of these days!
:full:

Plus Dyka and drifter are doing pretty good with Referrals... too.
:bingo:

P.S. Actually, the Referrals Leader is Goddess naughtylizze, who unfortunately, has Retired. Hence, I place her huge Referral Count on-hold.

I want to know what is the one post that Dyka thanked. It must be an awesome post. Has anyone seen it? Maybe we could add it to the Scanlover history thread.

Actually I think the thanked post is in Feedback. The guy revived a thread with a great question so I thought I'd reward him. Maybe the user will show up and remind us. :god:

Here (http://forum.scanlover.com/showpost.php?p=343773&post343773)'s the post you're looking for:

I am laughing so hard from the way the admin writes to each other about this totally useless thread and from the reply posts of $67 million trouser lawsuit.

evolution works slowly but surely!

At last the mystery is solved. An epic post indeed. I do think that if I was only going to thank one post in all the thousands here on SLF, it would have to be this one. Great work, finding it, blackfox.

With the updated forum, this is very simple. Click Dyka's User ID, select View Public Profile, click the tab Statistics and then click Find all posts thanked by Dyka. That's it! :bingo:

Oh, that spoils the mystique a bit, doesn't it? I had this picture of you pouring through thousands of posts trying to track down that one legendary post with Dyka's mark on it. Ah well. At least we know what post it is now. I should be able to sleep better tonight knowing that we've finally found it.
