this is going to be a very interesting year, the speed at which some guys/girls get things posted amazes me, and they are just the ones in SLT & well being a bit of a pigshit i havent really paid any attention to who's doing wot in other forums - sorry for that - but this is going to highlight all of the wonderful hard work that other people do, who i have never even heard of or at best might vaguely recognise a name but not know where from.
um i have bin editing clips out of some of my fave vids so that i can enjoy them when bored at work, i've got them on me phone and me mp3/movie player..........................................so maybe, just maybe i might sit up for a week share them with yur........................probably wont though,
anyway the whole MOM is a great idea, and thats got to be worth the MOM award on its own

cool... great to know you like the idea... just to inform you active doesn't mean being online everyday or being online for long periods. it just being active on a regular basis and actively participating in the forum, this it the intial launching phase and as we move along we will be developing more better ways to give recognitions to those to actively participate, We would definitely love to hand out awards to almost every member who visit and make this forum their home for asians but then receiving an award wouldn't be so special if everyone got an award. I am sure if one works hard enough and remains dedicated and shows true honest intentions of sharing it should amount to something...
Thanks for your inputs. we are always looking for comments and info to make the forum more favorable to the members and collectors... peace out!

yeah i did grasp the concept of the whole idea, i was just being silly with keyboard, saying that you could hve a totally random one every now and then, say like ' the funniest poster of the month ' cuz there are some funny characters in here whose threads are worth going to just for the random 1 liners and comical intros/buildups - and no not me, just thinking silly things again

Is it going to be the person who posts the most (pics) etc? Because quantity is not always quality.
If not how will it be decided?

The recipient is chosen by careful analysis and evaluation of the members activity by the staff. as mentioned before, it's not just a random act of choosing but a meticulous process of determining who the awards will be give out to.. you can see it's not an easy task for the staff since the forum has a huge content and the areas to cover are vast, put into consideration the categories, which makes it even harder... rest assured we will do our utmost best when selecting the winners...

6. A Member will not be a MOM two months in a row. (Unless the Staff makes a major exception.)
At first glance, this criterion seems fair because it allows more members to become MOM. However, upon closer scrutiny, it actually penalizes the top contributing member. The adverse effect is that other members stand to lose because of this clause.
Let me illustrate with an example. Currently, in the EE Video Torrents Forum, the race is between P and F. Because F has been missing for more than 10 days, it looks very likely that P will emerge as the MOM. Frankly, I've no idea how many torrents P would have posted in the qualifying period. My guess is that it will be more than 100. Let's say, the next highest is 20. Because of this rule, P may decide to take a break next month. Let's also assume that F hasn't returned next month. If the same contributing member, who posted 20 torrents this month, ended up being the MOM next month with say another 20 torrents, who is the biggest loser? We, the members, will end up the biggest losers because instead of having 100 torrents a month, we ended up with 20. (The numbers 100 and 20 are for illustration purposes only. Likewise, the most active torrent poster is not just limited to EE Video Torrents Forum.)
Of course, this may not happen because the contributing members have all along been contributing in the absence of any titles/recognition and I believe they will still do so in spite of this criterion. But why should we penalize the top contributing member? The question we should ask is: "What's wrong with the same member being a MOM for two, three or more months in a row?" If he/she has the stamina to contribute in whatever capacity he/she can, he/she deserves the recognition and we shouldn't deprive him/her of that.
My two cents! ._.

blackfox we are looking into this even as I type behind closed doors..the staff are making every steps needed to make it work in a logical manner. with that said we have to make a delay on the announcement for January so we can dig deeper as to how the rules will come about as we progress.. This is a project that we are still trying to develop and there will be more news about it as the days and moths go by... thanks bro for your comments we will put this into consideration...
regarding your point about losing.. I would have to say if a member changes his habits and ends up not posting then we have no control over that individual.. we aim to evaluate ones activity and his behavior for that particular month and also put into account his activities for the following month... let's say even though he might not be a candidate for a given month co'z he has won already his activity will also be considered if he/she is once again recommended for the next month he/she will be eligible for winning... so it's an on going evaluation... both for those who won and for those who are candidates...

... Because of this rule, P may decide to take a break next month. Let's also assume that F hasn't returned next month. ...
I don't know if people won't post just to win an award. It seems a bit hard to believe given that many members (such as yourself) have been posting for ages for no reward.
Moreover, even if your theory is right, we could assume that the numbers would balance.
100+20 for P over three months = 120
MOM for month 2 = 20 torrents
20+100 for F over three months (assuming a return with a backlog) = 120
overall 260 torrents. As you say, F has not returned in month 2 for no particular reason so the assumption of 300 torrents is not going to happen anyway.
And, as said, it is not just about quantity so holding back may not reap rewards.
Anyway, I assume MOM is mainly fun. I would not add it to my CV.

Well, I've qualified what I've said with, "Of course, this may not happen because the contributing members have all along been contributing in the absence of any titles/recognition and I believe they will still do so in spite of this criterion." Anyway, it's just a hypothesis.

You've hit the nail on the head. So why deprive him of the fun in the second month? Have you seen a contest where the champion is asked not to participate in the next round? ._.

Actually, Chengku, I'd expect you to be the last person here to make that statement, given that you've witnessed this irrational behavior yourself (See below). With the introduction of MOM, a new element has been thrown into the equation and now it's a different ballgame. It's now a contest of sort. With criterion #6, it would seem irrational indeed if one continues to post as earnestly as before he/she becomes a MOM.
What about the pics with the most hits without a thanks? I know I have upped some pictures that many have looked at but none or only a few thanked.
Take this example (http://forum.scanlover.com/showpost.php?p=236213&postcount=85)
Now I know it is weird and many may have looked purely out of curiosity (much like myself). I also think I know why people don't want to add their thanks to these posts.
It's hard to find out but check some of your posts to see the most viewed but unthanked or with a low thanks view ratio.

Well, I guess it is all a hypothesis as you say. I think posters are probably more predictable than consumers but I am just making a generalisation.
You could be right about some posters but I won't change based on MOM. I am sure if the forum has problems then the powers that be will make the necessary judgements and changes. Let's just see what happens:full:
