Thai TV has its own version Big Brother. The show where a bunch of people all stay together in a big house and cameras in every room film everything. It's all on TV for the audience to enjoy. Now it seems one lady in Big Brother Thailand was found to have posed for "inappropriate pictures" and has been kicked off the show. In the west that might make a person more popular but in Thailand it is just a cause of ill fame.

I always thought that Thailand was very open about sex. I've never been there, but I saw some HBO special that focused on "Ladyboys" and the special gave the impression that sexuality was very open in Thai society. Was that false?

Based on what I've read from the Natt Chanapa's debacle, I believe there is currently a crackdown, or at least the appearance of one, by the authorities. Whether they are doing this for political or PR purposes (i.e. make Thailand more "appealing" to the normal tourists), I don't know. I seriously doubt they're doing it for moral reasons though.
