This might not be exactly the right forum in which to put this post, but it seems to fit the best:

One of my good friends is now working as the international liaison for two AV companies here in Japan. He's responsible for internationalizing the web contents, including the development of English sites for movies and gravia. The group he works for is the second biggest in Japan and they're looking overseas to increase sales. They know about Scanlover, despite the IP block. There is a fairly easy workaround if you know what you are doing.

This means that the administrators at Scanlover may be forced to change their copyright policy for Japanese sites significantly. I'm talking a few hundred gravia series being removed (all of Graphis for example). I don't know what would happen to torrents ripped in HK though? anyone?

BUT!

There is good news:
I am writing a script for a series of documentary type sex episodes, which I will be directing. Financing and production of the film doesn't seem to be an issue after initial meetings with the producers, provided that the budget is within reason. The producers want a more detailed explanation of the requirements, scenes, costumes, types of girls, which is what I'm currently preparing.

The tag line for the series is as follows: 2 guys travel to Japan to make a documentary about sex. They end up getting a lot of action. Topics include soaplands, delivery health, harajuku style girls, hip hop girls, race queen, love hotel experience, office lady, gyaru and schoolgirl.

I thought I'd ask the expert aficionados here on scanlover to see if anyone had any wishes they would like to be realized in an AV? I can't hire specific girls, unfortunately. All the filming will be done in the Tokyo area.

The target market is the international market, and at the end of the day, I don't want to see the episode torrents on scanlover, and would like to work together with you fine people to make a genre adjusting series which in addition to being hot and sexy, will also be informative and humorous.

And sorry about the bad news above.

I always wondered why Japanese companies seem so lax at protecting their copyrights ? Eg the vast majority of web companies selling AV DVDs are all pirate copies and nothing seems to ever be done about it.

With regards to SL, how feasible is a legal prosecution between Japan and the USA ? Seems the cost for the prosecuting company of taking a forum to USA court would outweigh the long term finiancial benefits ? Unless they would be hoping that the accused would just fold at the mere sight of litigation papers ?

Isn't Scanlover more of a 'giant advertising board' for their products ? I imagine that a great number of sales have been generated for various companies through being made aware of their products on here - unless they are buying from the pirate DVD companies - in which case they are the best target for litigation rather than fans swapping images.

Basically, it would be the same respect that is given to American Asian sites to not upload member's content. When you say 'giant advertising board' I don't think that includes giving away the product for free. There are hundreds of images uploaded directly onto SL which are a breach of copyright and should 'legally speaking' be taken down. This breaks my heart, because I enjoy SL just as much as the next guy.

And in terms of international legal battles, I'm fairly confident that the people who run the SL site wouldn't have what it takes to battle an industry larger than Hollywood. Is it worth it? If the sites being ripped off have English sites to allow international members to view their content and pay for it, stopping the free unlimited access to their content would be in their best interests.

That aside, Movie ideas! Does anyone want to see something special? I was thinking of mentioning SL somewhere in the script as a reference as well.

I'm going to hazard a guess as to why you aren't receiving suggestions. You come in, toss out some threats, then ask for input. Fair or not, most people will assume you're the stool pigeon. True or not, most people will assume your claims of "breaking your heart" are crocodile tears. Those will directly contribute to people not wanting to help you.

...I don't want to see the episode torrents on scanlover, and would like to work together with you fine people...

So with our 2 cents, you'll make a few million cents. Then, not only won't we see a single cent, we won't see anything at all!

Appreciate your honesty though.

But I'll PASS... :ban:
