Be honest now.....

Does anyone actually prefer this method of obtaining JPEGS ? IE downloading a great big ZIP file on the basis of 5 or 10 preview images ? Or did you / do you prefer the traditional method of posting JPEGs ??

It would be better if the uploader created a Contact Sheet (all the JPEGs thumbnailed into one massive JPEG).

Not only do you not know what images are inside, but unless you are a colector of entire collections then the chances are that you do not want EVERY image of a 100 image set. But now you do not have the means to be selective about what images you can download.

Sure it saves time for the uploader, and it saves money for Don Scanlover, but because of afew leechers abusing the system we now have less choice - unless downloading an entire ZIP is a choice.

There is already a section on the board to share ZIPped up scan collections in both Torrent AND Direct Download areas. Now the BB and SS seem to be going the same route.

You've answered your own question malau: zips are for collectors, like me and many others out there. If you want to choose just one or two pics, then there are still the huge threads in SSanctuary.

I'm not sure what you mean by less choice. The uploaders of zipped sets probably don't want to post their collections pic by pic, and those who don't mind sharing their material pic by pic can continue to do so. You still have a huge amount of material available to choose from here at SLF imo.

1) Despite what you may think, many people do like to download zipped collections, just look at asian aesthetics forum.

2) I created files.scanlover.com to be an alternative for megaupload, rapidshare and such others. This is suppose to help differentiate us from the competition because our users can now share large files without having to pay for a premium account just to enjoy a non-crippled service.

I prefer it. Easier to upload and to download. But yes, I fall under the category of collector. So it's either zips or sinning a dozen times for me LOL

I do love being able to select the photos that you download off the link, except that I have the problem of selecting a heap at a time, and having to reload them for having loaded too many at the same time using the tab system on Chrome.
