OK. I have tested this and what is true for Blu-Ray Hollywood discs is still true for JAV.

You can *not* mount image to disc and play with Daemon Tool (at least not with Daemon Tool Lite which is a free version). If you use Daemon Tool, you can mount it, copy every folder to HDD, then play it from there, but you can not play directly from virtual disc.

If you want to directly mount it and play, you need Virtual CloneDrive.

hehehe yep downloading 7/24 for 7-8 days solid. That sounds about right LOL

The bad part for me is the fact that I still cannot get rid of this thing from my Hard Drive. I dont have a blu-ray burner, so it's a 25gb block of used HD space, and its a real pain when I am running low. Its like herpes, you cant get rid of it!!

The good part is the picture quality is worth it if you have no other means of getting it. Admit to yourself, you are a picture quality junkie if you are spending this much time to download a blu-ray over an upconverted DVD. For me, I'm never downloading a blu-ray ever again. Once is enough. The time and effort to download, and the used HD space, is not worth the 15-27 bucks it cost me to buy an original that I can play anywhere.

pmp: if you are already halfway through the 20gb then maybe just finish it? rather than starting a whole new 8gb. The blu-ray one is at least 1920x1080, whereas the smaller one is only 1280x720 size. If you get both at least you can experiment with the conversion, and tell us of your experiences. Use Winrar to split the 20 GB files into 4.3 GB files and put the .part files acrosss 5 discs.
Whenever you want to watch your Yuri vid again, you can recover it by copying all .part files from the discs to your PC and join it back together.
That's what I do when I want to archive my 1080p MKV version of The Godfather Trilogy. :)
It's a little inconvenience but still okay for those who don't have the BD burner and with little HDD space.

That's a good advice and I always do just that for Blu-Ray. It's time-consuming but DVD-5 is cheap. Heck I even split DVD-9 into 2 DVD-5s just to save a little money. hey..hey..

Although if it's only x264 MKV you can easily split it into parts with MKVmerge (say it 8.5 GB. MKV. You can split it into 2 4.3 GB parts and you can watch these parts individually on the disc itself, much like the day when we used to watch a movie in an 2-side LD.). If you want to watch it whole at one session you also can easily append it together.

i'll take a couple of screenshots, they look quite good, but i haven't had any 1920x1080 direct from bluray content before to compare with. i've got the lianghua 720p rip too, which looks excellent (to my untrained eye) as well, but some obvious interlacing. it's a m2ts though, so maybe it's meant for ps3 or other hardware players which will deint during playback...

currently encoding a 720p of my own, we'll see if I can do any better (but at 7 fps it'll take a while too)

When I had it, I used Media Player Classic, and it played perfect. I know you didn't ask about it, but when I tried to play mpeg type files with VLC in the past they left ripples on the screen, and I couldn't figure out why.

It is why I tried MPC; even WMP plays them great, too.

how did you get it play on MPC? i tried and it didn't even load, just a black screen with no sound.

VLC was kinda choppy.
