That's strange because in Canada we're four years ahead of you ... :sweatlaugh:
Actually I think the official name of the console was announced recently (and also at E3 in California).

I wouldn't be surprised if some idiot uses it as a weapon :sweatlaugh:
Personally I think they should have used an updated version of the Gamecube controller. I mean what if some publisher makes a car racing game with that controller you'd look like a complete dick waving that thing around. :sweatlaugh:
Somehow I don't think many games are going to sell well on it.
They should have stuck with the Revolution brand, it sounds better methinks.
You know I'm sticking with PS3. Stupid Nintendo. :fishslap:
When I saw them play tennis on E3, it looked so accurate. I'm very impressed with what Nintendo came up with. They have my respects.

Title needed correcting due to recent events at E3 ;) .

The controller is actually the one that looks like a remote (called the Wii Remote). The Nunchuk controller is the joystick attachment. (See aznxhinata's picture of it above.)
Devil_Dice, to play racing games on the Wii, just turn the Wii Remote 90 degrees so that the remote resembles the normal Nintendo controller (the buttons are to your right while the pad is to your left).
Revolution was always a code name/working title for the new system. They were going to change it sooner or later.
More information on the new system, including some video previews, are on the Wii website: http://wii.nintendo.com/home.html.

So i assume its kinda like the ps2 video thing, as interactive play, built into the wii.
it must be really tiring to hold the controller vertically in those interactive games.

Not to mention that there is also another controller that will come out, that looks similar to the Super Nintendo controller, with analog pads added on.
I think the Nintendo Wii is going to be a big hit. Not to mention the DS Lite. It's the 21 century, it's about time someone came up with a unique controller. I'm sure it'll work out really well because when I saw some of the demos on E3, it seemed very user friendly.

They have my respects.
They haven't had my respect since they start with the gimmicky crap...
Nintendo top man: "Hey look at this the disc for the new console is really tiny! Haha is so funny! And the console is a cube shape hohoho!"
Nintendo underling: "But sir, shouldn't we go for the more universally used and more available DVD format, which would undoubtably mean we can get more titles ported from other formats which would be too big for the smaller disc, giving us enough of a foothold to win back the market after our mistake of staying with cartridges when we make the N64?"
Nintendo top man: "Hahaha, look, it's so small, hahaha!"
As you can guess, this Wii piece of crap ain't exactly floating my boat either.
Oh, and here's some breaking news from the land of the misinformed (http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6148462.html?sid=6148462):
One industry analyst who spoke in the condition of anonymity said flat out the choice was wrong, for a number of reasons. "It's a sound that doesn't exist in Japanese, so Japanese people will struggle to pronounce it."
Wii can be pronounced in Japanese, ???, see? Though if you ask this guy, he'd probably say Nintendo is an american company...

The Wii is not meant to be a universal media player like the Xbox 360 and PS3. It's meant to be a gaming console. That's what they're getting at. Going back to the simple fun life of gaming. I even heard this console can download games from NES, SNES, N64, and play GameCube games. Not to mention that it can also download Sega Genesis and Turbo Graphix 16 games.
I have the Xbox 360, I'm sure I'll end up getting the PS3 as well. They both are multi media players but I'm not going to watch DVDs on them, I'm going to play games. Sure the discs are different, but these optical discs, in combination with the system, will give us a chance to play a ton of games, without spending an arm and a leg to buy them.
The discs may be optical, but when it comes to software, it isn't hard to make stuff for cross platforms. Also understand that these games are meant to be shorter because, today, many games take months to finish. Soon you could only pick one game at a time since they'll be multiple worlds as complex as real life. Plus, keep in mind that the Wii is running a PowerPC chip, made by IBM. So is XBox360, just a different chip model, PowerPC though.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this because I miss playing games that you can put down and come back instead of games where you have to deal with entire worlds and if you miss a month, you loose track of what you were doing. Sure those games rock, but Xbox360 and PS3 are making quite enough of those games. Nintendo is going to have simpler games and since it'll be much cheaper, all those who have Xbox360 or PS3 can afford a Wii.
Anyway, back to the controller. Here's another controller for the Wii for those old time gamers.

You misunderstood my DVD comment, I wasn't talking about playing DVDs, I was talking disc capacity, the Gamecube disc could only hold 1.5GB, much less than a DVD, limiting the games in both graphics and length, which put off some developers, the exact same thing happened with the N64, nintendo stuck with the traditional game cartridge (which had a low capacity, and were expensive to produce), while the rest of the world went off with CDs (which hold about 10x more than even the biggest N64 cartridges, and a hell of a lot cheaper to produce) allowing for better sound quality and full motion videos.

But Nintendo is not aiming at large capacities. They're aiming at simpler games that don't take a year to finish. 1.5 GB is enough for Nintendo because they're also not about insane graphics. They're aiming to grab a more adult audience, especially those who are not into games, and making the Wii a more interactive gaming machine that's very user friendly - hence the new controller.

I think that white regular looking controller for the Wii was a hoax picture. You can connect up to four regular GameCube controllers up to the Wii for games like Super Smash Bros. that won't need the remote/nunchuk stuff.
Personally, I think the Wii will be more succesful than people think. People are really getting excited about the new controller, and it will be priced to sell, unlike the PS3 whose shipping price is likely to be $500-$600. I doubt they'll regain market dominance like they had in the Nintendo/Super Nintendo days, but they'll be a major console player once again, instead of the third-man-out.
That's my prediction anyway. I also thought the Xbox would crash and burn in a firey glory not seen on earth since the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs. In any case, the Wii is the only console I'm consider buying in the next generation. I do most of my gaming on the computer and the occasional SNES game thrown in for fun.

You'd be surprise at what people said during E3. Nintendo's Wii will be the second console people will buy after ... Microsoft's XBOX360.

Bleh, no way I'd buy a PS3. Way too expensive. I'd get a Wii, but I need to save my money.
