Lost Wages (Las Vegas):evillaugh:

Went to the Phoenix, AZ area this week to visit relations and then figured I would pop up to Vegas to visit friends for a few days as well. First pic is a panorama stitched together of 6 other pics. It is a 180 degree view of the north side of somewhere along interstate 10 heading to Phoenix. pretty sure I was still in CA at this point. I took it cause there wasn't even a power line in sight. Nothing but landscape. Second pic is taken from the Voodoo Lounge on top of the Rio hotel in Vegas. 5 pics stitched together for this one. It's not as clear, the wind was blowing pretty good and it was colder than...:evillaugh:Pretty unusual weather there for this time of year. When I graduated from high school back in '74 I moved to LV and lived there off and on for a few years. The strip didn't look anything like this back then. I have been there a couple of times a year since and the constant change still blows me away.

Cool panoramas. I like the AZ one. Brings back some memories - I spent every summer in the desert as a child.

I spent a week in Vegas in Feb, and the strip has certainly changed a lot since the last time I had been there - about 15 years ago.

I stayed in the Trump, which has no casino (I was there on business - no casino hotels allowed by my company), but it turned out to be a really nice refuge from the normal atmosphere on the strip. All the rooms are condo/studio style, complete with mini kitchen.

I saw "Ka" at the MGM and it was awesome. Everyone says "O" at Bellagio is better, so I guess next time I need to check that out.

Didn't win any money , and a week is kind of long for Vegas, but the trip was free and I had to work during the day... so it was alright.

My place is 2 miles south of the airport.. three blocks east of LV Blvd. (Behind the three towers on the right.)
Yes, Vegas has grown.. but with the recession, many are out of work..
Not a good thing..

Over the past 30 some odd years I have seen a few "recessions". They come and they go. In my 20's when I could not find work anywhere else I always found it in Las Vegas. But that was as a young man in the trades. It is definitely not so easy now. There is work there but mostly for the young bucks. The pics below were taken around the Dec. of last year. Work on the new bridge at Boulder Dam. The water level at Lake Mead was lower than I have seen it in years...

The water level is so far down, some of the boat launch sites are closed. Rumor is, Lake Powell will be allowed to lower to keep water in the turbine intakes. And, they claim a lower turbine intake is in the near future. Sad times, but Las Vegas has good Karaoke..
