First of all, change the ports to use from 6881 to 16881.
If you have a router or firewall, make sure that these ports are open. Make sure the port 6969 is open to allow trackers if your downloads wont start at all.
If you are having a NAT error on Azureus, try disabling UPnP.
If you have multiple bittorents downloading on the same LAN, assign a seperate port for each computer.
Try limmiting your upload speeds if you have Cable/ADSL
Use 11kbps on 128k upload. double it for 256/1.5mb and keep going up as you hit 384/ect.

I found my download speeds went from a pathetic 3kbps to 30-50kbps.

uTorrent is definitely my favorite bittorent client. It doesn't splatter .dlls all over the place. It's small simple and efficient, but it has difficulty with most Asian Language files on Windows 98.

Azureus isn't as fast as uTorrent, but can download many asian language file torrents.

So I have both on my computer.

What does the below error means? How to overcome it?

Error: Can not resolve host address. in Tracker: udp://bt.lanspirit.net:2710/announce

It's a DNS error. bt.lanspirit.net doesn't appear to resolve to an ip address

alot of sites banned bitcomet .6 version, and even though some have lifted the ban since the release of .61, it's still pretty much banned at alot of places. I agree uTorrent is the way forward.

I'm always using bitcomet, kinda eazy to config even u are behind a firewall adn using a router.

As it was likely to be banned, I think I have to use uTorrent.

Isn't the protocol the same?

I've been using Azureus for a majority of the things I've torrented and to me it seems to be fine and dandy. What's the big improvement with uTorrent. What are the pros and cons of uTorrent versus Azureus?

alot of trackers these days are banning leeching clients.

and bit comet kind of works like a leeching client, because u can cap your ma upload. post ppl i know who use bitcomet cap there upload at 3. but in turn they get snubbed/banned alot.

about the 6881 to 16881..

it doesnt have to be 16881.

just just cant be 6881 if its the default port used in alot of clients e.g azurerus

but remember if ur behind a fire wall you must portforward the port your bt client is using.. and also do it for udp.

performance tuning is pretty much site specific but people can generally use what's been mentioned here as guildlines. with any torrent client you are always limited to the generousity of the those in your swarm. being a peer is a good thing and a seed even better.

Windows XP sp2 has a limit of a max of 10 half open connections at a time. Meaning you can only negotiate 10 peers/seeds at a time. There is a small exe program you can get from from googling ways to fix the 10 connections max. it will bump ur connection max to 50 at a time. change the simultaneous connections to 45 ish and u'll be connecting to ppl 5x faster than before.

I have tried both-set up ok-checked everything- but they are both so very slow..Azureus downloads round about 3.8 to 4.kbs,the other, much the same.I have a satelite connection, and no problem with bandwidth ect...Ok it says there are 400,000 users on when I am on,but man they are SLOW..I could fly to the moon and back and they would be still downloading....What else is there to try

Azureus has a lot of options, so I use it. It takes up quite a bit of RAM though.
