How to get a start in the porn business, help, advice?

I've been thinking about this for awhile now because of many reasons (financial, long interest, fun factor), how would I be able to start in the porn business? Not like acting, but maybe directing, producing and distributing? I was thinking about going to China next year, maybe I could start there? I know you guys know who bangbros are, they mainly distribute their stuff online, is that possible for someone like me? I have a degree in Film and Visual Culture and I know how to edit and lay tracks down, it's all the other things I don't really know how to do. Anyone interested or know anything about the business please feel free to pm me or comment here.

Porn is illegal in China, not sure if it's a good idea to produce porn over there. If you do, perhaps you can take a look at what hegre-archives.com is doing. I think a hegre-archive style adult business, but focusing on Chinese ladies is doable and will be mighty interesting ^^

Some porn websites in China been taken down straightly and the webmasters been caught up and punished to become a wholelife prisoner. Setting a porn website in China has brought this kind of serious trouble. So you guess what would happen to you if you been found out on starting the porn business in China? Be careful with your plan...at least don't choose China as you target. :sweatlaugh:

Why if I just wanted to film there, but the my server would be over here in the U.S. ? For American customers rather than Chinese customers? Is filiming an issue or is that illegal too?

What the other posters are saying is correct. If you want to make Asian porn then I think there would be better/safer locations than China for such activities. In fact if you want to make 'Chinese' porn in particular you will find sufficiently large enough Chinese populations in many other countries which will allow you to make porn.

I think that like any other business you should consider getting some experience working in the industry before jumping into it. Porn may seem easy but it is increasingly competitive and there is a lot to learn. If you are in the U.S. then there is an AVN business directory you can order on their website (www.avn.com). That will give you a list of industry contacts.

I would say you're more likely to succeed in north america or europe than in asia. I'm pretty sure france is way more open to porn producing, and amateur stuff than the whole of asia, same would go for the US and Canada. Also north america has a lot of chinese/asian ladies...seriously.

Go to Vancouver, Canada and it'll be packed with hot asians, mainly chinese.

as with any business, this one should not be treated any different when developing the business plan...the adult industry is a scrutinized industry, for the reason that the established world still frowns on something that should be accepted a bit better ~ after all, adult images are easily accessable via the internet & other media; films & animations are made all the time & fans of all genders go crazy for the models that participate.. even though the industry is taking more steps forward to get acceptance, it still borders the fineline, but take away the subject & the business remains..

so to start off, develop your business plan - flesh out your ideas in outline form of what you intend to offer to your chosen fan base, what you'll need & your system of accounting...once that is set & once you have a clear objective, hey ~ go for it.. ^^

the adult industry is still an untapped market..

Ok, so China is out of the question. I just thought that since there are so many brothels there, filming one session wouldn't be such a big deal, but I guess it is. Also, "labor" is cheap there. But I found a post by a member on this board about these places in Hong Kong. A one night session would only cost about $100. I'm not sure if they would let me film, but their pictures are all over the internet for people to see already so who knows.

I'm probably aiming towards people who are into Asian porn. Yea, I think it would be tough to get started but with the internet, anything is really possible. I reside in So Cal, so there are tons of Asians here. The problem is that these Asians are already in a position where they don't have to do porn. Labor costs would be another problem. what languages do you speak? Do you really have to speak the language to do it?? how a business partner who can speak the language, be it on of the natives of the country you would like to work in or someone you know in so cal? what about an interpreter? the guys who worked with those europeans (czechs, hugarians etc) chicks [i checked those eupeans out when i need a different flavor :thumbsup:] did.

You mean Sex 141, and that is prostitution. One of the webmasters was sentenced to prison a couple years back but got out of it and also moved his server to the US where the material is allowed. He was charged for pimping, not pornography, hence why the site is censored.

Filming it in China is probably still going to get you in trouble since you'll be in possession of it.

The reason I wouldn't do it in the US is because there are so few Asians willing to do this sort of thing. And he select few are not so good looking (American Asian stars). In a country like Japan where porn is an accept form of entertainment, you will find more (good looking) girls willing to do it.

Prostitution is illegal in most countries, esp Asian countries, like Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia etc. But there are exceptions. For example, in parts of Nevada, prostitution is legal, though regulated. Pros are found in most countries, be it illegal or not. If prostitution is totally wiped out, I believe the crime rate (molest/rape cases) would increase dramatically.

Personal request: If you do make your movies in the US with Asian models, try and move beyond the skanky sucked-lemon look so popular in US porns. US porn leaves me limp. Not sure a Japanese AV of a girl getting gang banged or the South-East Asian "lets watch this girl put a refrigerator in her vagina" videos are much better either. I just think porn could be much better made. My wife isn't averse to porn, but watching a girl drown under a football team's sperm isn't her idea of erotica. :-)

Haha, that's why I don't like American-Asian porn. The girls just aren't...up to par. Japanese women DO look much better but most of them don't look like they enjoy it. I kind of want to fuse the American attitude with the looks of the Japanese women. That would be awesome.
