I tried VLC. It gave me a similar result to wmp....i'll give you the screenie, here: It includes in the bottom left some of the codecs i have downloaded in my program files, and the bottom right the folder that contains the vid file and other files fomr the bitcomet transfer, and finally the wmp window which indicates that the file playes(with sound) but no vid. I hope you can help horny

Ok here we go...
I do the properties thing and it does not indicate any codec names as u can see from the screenie. Also, it says "click web help", but i can't find that command on the wmp anywhere. I tried on real player a few things and can't get it to indicate any needed codecs either....*sigh* any ideas?

I think u do not have ffdshow codec....google ffdshow & d/load codec from codec.com & u should be done

Jeez...I dled it, and in the installation process it had problems. For whatever reason it prompted me with "cancel, retry or ignore" I tried retry a few times and it didn't work. However, i clcked ignore and it installed it(although i can't find it in the "program files" folder). Then i try playing in wmp and on the bottom a fw messages come up quickly"connecting to codec server" then "sending request for codec" and then "error downloading codec" Then it just behaves like it did at the start.
I even tried renaming aftr the codec dl....i think mayeb there were complications dling the codec, mayeb it is not even dled at all...

Ok, i play a normal avi vid i happen to have on my HDD, and have the properties there. It seems to give all the info it is supposed to. Looks good, eh?

G-spot? Can you explain what that is? i don't know anythign about that ap....it's a ap that tells u which codec u may be missing? Is that it? I go dl it now anyway and try to sort it out....I might need u to help my with the g-spot if i get confused.

Thanks so much for ur patience horny:thankyou:

This can lead u to d/load G spot :

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

G Spot uses :

Establishes what video codecs (audio and video) are required to play an AVI file. Determines whether these codecs are installed on your system.

Uhoh, check the screenie

I renamed the file(cause gSpot cannot read the asian charac. replacments) and it accepted it. Then it processed and came up with the window below(all the while, i am assuming i am using the gSpot ap properly).

How do i know this? Well, 4iturtle provided me with the solution.

THANKS SO MUCH 4iturtle

and if yr having fun with MKV files, i would strongly recommend downloading and installing the CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page). it's a codec pack developed by the anime fansub community, and it's designed to play pretty much every format that anime fansubs might be distributed in. and given the anime fansub community tends to be at the forefront of codec/ format development, (those b*stards keep distributing things in h.264 format, which my laptop can't play cos it lacks the processor power :( ) the CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) will play everything you can download.
