4G or 'LTE' is a gimmick for the most part. In some areas it's quite useful and is faster than 3G based networks. The speed isn't anywhere yet what 4G LTE is capable of though.

There's nothing wrong with the tech, but it's probably safer for now not to have a smartphone, especially in the US lol. Thanks to the ASScroft and the USA Patriot Act OOPS lol. Tablets aren't anything like they hype them to be yet, they're in their infancy. All they are now is glorified mobile gaming platforms, with mostly shit games and media consumption devices. Basically, things to watch movies on on a decent sized screen on trips etc...

When the control freak and spying on everyone bullshit stops, they'll become great things to have and they'll advance. The powers that be right now won't allow that and only let the tech progress after they figured out how to build in the back-doors so they can spy on everything and everyone to control us.

Thing is, with all the talks about unemployment, declined average income and shit, everybody seems to have a smartphone nowadays, and they all seem to have internet access. Data plans cost a good chunk of dough a month, no? When I sit down with my colleagues at a table, I'm the only one still using an antique Motorola RAZR.
Recession? what recession? if you're able to keep up with Apple's iPhone release, you''re doing mighty fine.

Yeah, they're pretty fucked up. The phone carriers in America have insane power and control here in America. It'll be great the day we get to what some parts of Europe are like. You buy whatever hardware you want and take it to whatever carrier you want. There are dozens of carriers over there, same with land line or home internet. Over there, their phones aren't tied to carriers.

You can get for $20-$30 equivalent over there unlimited data, text, etc.... and hundreds or uber amounts of minutes. Here, what do you get for $20 / month. 250MB or 2GB if lucky.

It seems like our economy needs to collapse, die and restart. That's how they got great competition over there. It came after a downfall and rebuilding.

i still use my mobile phone from 2008 ive never even touched a iphone or ipad or idontgiveashit , a monthly paid contract and mobile number is all one needs not buying overpriced apple products .

lol, I don't have a phone at all, except a house one or what's called land line phone. I'm just a tech / computer geek so I 'geek out' at new cool tech, however, as long as the idiots and powers that be exist, there will be great fear cause these assholes will use the cool tech against us like they want. When they're gone, then tech will amaze everyone again with no fears of misuse.

So, when you go for a trip, you bring a GPS, a camera, and a phone? I use my phone strictly for talking, maybe some text messaging once in a blue moon. If I can find the old black RAZR, I'll buy it. The thing just works!

Consider the offering features, I honestly don't think iPhones and iPod overpriced. My 8Gb iPod effectively costs me $150. Although I can buy a conventional 8Gb MP3 player for around $50, I still think my iPod a steal as it serves me as a computer at home when I need to check something quick. Regarding the iPhones, it's also computer, an amazing computer. With all the technologies packed in it, I think it's very well designed in both form and function, and I find the price justifiable. What I don't buy into is the cult of Apple. I also don't like how cheap phones look and feel nowadays. Check out these old Nokia phones in 2005. I believe the long one costs more than an iPhone with adjusted inflation. But look at those things, talk about styles!
