Ok I understand some of you are confused because when you visit http://scanlover.com all you get is a 'Under Construction' or 'Website taken down' message

First let me explain:

Scanlover.com is a free site with a huge number of visitors, it costs me money to run it. To control bandwidth usage, I purposely disallow certain countries access to it. For example, we used to have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of visitors from Japan, Korea, China etc. But I found that they do not contribute much in terms of captioning or uploading photos (probably because of the language barrier) Hence, to allocate more bandwidth for the more 'useful' traffic, I block access from these countries (and quite a few others)

Then, there are other countries that sent legal letters to me, saying that our users uploaded pics from playboy, or whatever to the site. Brazil is one such country. So, I banned Brazil as well. There are a few other countries and states in the USA under such a ban as well.

Last, there are some users using a personal anonymizer firewall or some proxy that makes my website unable to track your IP address. Such users are blocked too.

If you are affected by this IP ban, but you really wish to visit the mainsite, you can get around it by going to

http://scanlover.com/login.php

Login and you will be able to access the site

Of course, the caveat is that you must have an account to begin with. Hence get outside your firewall to register an account, or ask a friend to create an account for you.

Do not send me PMs or feedback to ask for unban of you IP address, I wont have time to entertain you.

Does ScanLover Forum have such a ban, or is the MainSite the only one?

If not then a similar ban for the Forum should help and aleviate the "server too busy!" problem.

Can We have the list of IPs' or Countries BANNED from accessing BOTH SLF and SL Mainsite PLZ?

Hi tried to access scanlover through http://scanlover.com/login.php as suggested but still getting the message under construction. I am from Australia. wondered if you had any suggestions on what I could do... realisiing that you are really busy running this forum and site. much appreciated. would like to contribute some more scans to scanlovers....

Hmm... I seem to be having a different (?) problem - I can view the main site fine, but I can't log into my account. Every time I enter my username and password, I get an error message reading "Login failed". Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

H I still cannot access Scanlover. Have a password and have tried logging in as you recommended above but "under construction". Is it a case of me being in Oz (australia?)

This is baffling me, as well. I'm in America, and can't access the scanlover page (Under Construction). Even when I log in via http://scanlover.com/login.php, it shoots me right to the "Under Construction" page.

There are a few US states (I assume ScanLover really meant ISPs) being blocked as well. See his original post above.
