Braces
I have them. I had the braces themselves on my teeth for one week along with the rubber band spacers. Boy was it an experience getting it all on.
So today I had the wires put in. Here is me before: http://dykaoflight.googlepages.com/SLFBefore.mpg And after about a minute of waiting int he office, I got bored. http://dykaoflight.googlepages.com/SLFWait.mpg Then they put the wires in, and holy hell my orthodontist was fast with his cementing. I could feel the fear on my face when he kept moving so fast. Anyway, this is me after the appointment. A hilarious image is coming later. http://dykaoflight.googlepages.com/SLFAfter.mpg Now let's all talk about the times when we had braces and laugh.

I had braces for 2½ years, it wasn't so bad except I had this lisp and the food got stuck in the braces. I have to use a plastic retainer though.

I can tell from those pictures, that you are extremely happy with the braces and you are having a fun time with it. You look really really hyper in those photos, like wow, this dude is insane!

I do not have perfect teeth but I dread having braces. It's too troublesome for me. By the way, how long must u wear those braces? At least 2 yrs?

I had braces in my mid 30's, on advice of my dentist. Whoo, my teeth were terrible, half of them pointing in, the other half pointing out. I'd bite into sandwiches, and just pull out the filling, because my teeth didn't mesh well enough to cut.
Now I've got a reasonably normal smile, and I'm quite happy with the result. Downsides: 1. Four perfectly good teeth had to be pulled to make room; Couldn't they have yanked some with fillings, instead? 2. I bite my tongue now, bits come off. :o 3. No more tucking my lips in so my canines show, and looking like a vampire. :( 4. Two years of excruciating, pound your head against a wall just for the distraction, agony. 5. Two years of my teeth being so loose I was constantly afraid I'd lose them. 6. Five years with a wire retainer while the bone regrew around my loose teeth. Mind, the earlier you get it done, the less traumatic, according to what I've heard. Advice: Get a water pick, and avoid anything with sugar in it. Keep a bottle of mouthwash with you, to swish when you can't brush. Even good dental hygine can lead to cavities when you've got braces, you need SUPERB dental hygine right now. Keep some dental wax in your pocket; It's good for smoothing over the braces on those occasions where they start to abrade your tongue or lips. Good luck, in the end it will be worth it.
